Man arrested after leading Merced Police in a over 100 MPH chase

On February 14th, at approximately 12:37 p.m., Officer Lupian located a Stolen 2006 Chevy Tahoe at intersections of West 13th and ‘R’ Streets in the City of Merced.

Officer Lupian attempted to stop the vehicle at the Southbound Highway 99 on-ramp and a pursuit ensued after the driver failed to stop.

The driver, later identified as 39-year-old Melvin Milton Jenner continued southbound on Highway 99 at speeds exceeding 100 MPH.

The driver drove onto the shoulder of Highway 99 on several occasions attempting to avoid capture.

Upon approaching Road 15 in Chowchilla, The California Highway Patrol successfully deployed spike strips hitting the passenger side tires of the stolen vehicle.

The pursuit was turned over to the California Highway Patrol in Chowchilla. CHP completed a successful PIT maneuver on the stolen vehicle causing it to come to a stop.

The driver exited the SUV and submitted to arrest. Melvin Milton Jenner was arrested and booked for evading Officers, stolen property and a probation violation.
