The Merced County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a fatal train vs pedestrian accident in the area of Plainsburg Road and Santa Fe Avenue in Planada.
On February 14th, 2020, Merced Sheriff’s Department deputies responded to the area just around 8:00 p.m, for a report of a train vs pedestrian accident.
Upon further investigation, deputies say a female was sitting on the railroad tracks when she was hit and killed by the train.
According to a deputy at the scene, the train conductor made several attempts to blow the horn but the female did not move out of the way.
The female was pronounced deceased at the scene and the coroner is at the scene now.
No name or age was immediately available, stay tuned for further information when it becomes available.
