On September 16th, 2019, at approximately 10:00 p.m., the Merced County Sheriffs Department responded to the UPS facility located at 334 SR 59 for a man who was shot.

Upon arrival deputies located an adult male UPS employee, upon further investigation, deputies said the man was walking home from the UPS facility on SR 59 when he was shot.

The victim told deputies he heard a loud bang, then he saw that he was bleeding and realized he’d been shot.

The victim went back to the UPS office and called for help. The man was flown to a Modesto hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Detectives do not know if the bullet was fired from a vehicle or somewhere else at this time.

They also do not have a motive for the shooting at this time.

Deputies say it appears to be either a random shooting or possibly even a stray bullet. They are asking anyone with information to call the Merced County Sheriff’s Office detectives division at 209-385-7472.
