The Merced Police Department has released the name of the second officer who was also involved in a fatal separate collision with a pedestrian this month.
The first collision occurred on April 7th, 2022, at around 10:03 p.m., at the intersection of G Street and East 15th Street.
In this collision, Officer Chase Wilson was driving a marked patrol vehicle on G Street when he struck 82-year-old Josefa Blandón of Merced, killing her. According to police, Wilson is a five-year veteran of the police department.
The name of another officer involved in a separate fatal collision involving a pedestrian was also released to Merced Golden Wire News.
Officer David Flores has been with the department for about a year. Authorities said on April 10th, 2022, at around 5:12 a.m., Flores was responding to a report of a pedestrian who had been struck by a vehicle on G Street near 18th Street.
When officer Flores arrived on the scene, he struck the pedestrian who was already lying on the roadway with his patrol vehicle.
The man who was struck died at the scene, his identity has not been released by the coroner’s office at the time of this post.
