Merced Police Gang unit arrests wanted felon, police find handgun and narcotics.

The Merced Police Gang unit arrested a wanted man last night.

Officers went to an apartment complex in the 1900 block of Shadowbrook Drive at around 10:22 p.m. to serve a search warrant.

Officers made contact with 23-year-old Jaquinn Hamilton at an apartment for a local warrant and was arrested.

Weapon found inside the residence of the wanted suspect.

Officer Barajas subsequently authored a search warrant for the apartment. During the search, officers located a loaded 9mm semi-automatic handgun, a loaded high capacity magazine and a large bag of narcotics.

According to the Merced Police Department, Hamilton is prohibited from possessing any firearms due to his previous criminal history and being a documented gang member.

Hamilton was booked at Merced County Jail for possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, possession of ammunition by a prohibited person, possession of narcotics for sales, a local warrant and gang enhancements.
