Merced police arrest man with stolen property worth over $1,000

Merced Police recovered stolen property from a commercial burglary.

On January 29th at 12:25 am, Merced Police Department dispatchers received an alarm call associated to a tracking device that was stolen from the Cosmo Prof beauty supply store at 80 West Olive Avenue.

The tracking device was located inside of a bag that had over $1,000 worth of store property.

The tracker pinged the location of an apartment complex near the 3000 block of Park Avenue.

Officers responded to the area and located 23-year-old Salvador Mendoza Orozco loitering in the courtyard of the apartment complex.

Mendoza was in possession of a bag that contained seven cordless hair clippers.

Officers went to the beauty supply store and discovered the business had been burglarized.

The stolen property was returned to the owner and Mendoza was arrested for commercial burglary.
