Merced man accused of a homicide at Atwater Buhach Colony High School parking lot, arrested

Atwater Police say they have arrested a Merced man regarding the homicide at the parking lot of Buhach Colony High School that occurred on June 29th, 2022, at around 11:40 p.m., police say.

At around 7:00 a.m.officers from the Atwater, Merced, Turlock, Modesto police departments, State Parole and the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s office cooperated on a multi-jurisdictional operation that lead to the arrest of 21-year-old Adrian Hernandez as a suspect in the June 29th, 2022 homicide.

With the assistance of these agencies and federal partners, officers were able to identify Hernandez as the primary subject in this investigation, Atwater Police said.

Hernandez was taken into custody without incident. Merced PD GSVU served a search warrant in the 3600 block of Swan Court in the City of Merced as part of the operation.

Investigators collected evidence at the location to assist in the prosecution of the case. Hernandez was booked into the Merced County Jail on a first-degree murder charge.

Chief Salvador stated. “I would like to thank all the agencies that help our department with this investigation. This operation is result of hours great investigative work by all involved.”

This investigation is still ongoing and the Atwater Police Department needs the public’s help in gathering information related to the case.
