A man accused of shooting and killing a pregnant woman and her unborn child was booked into the Merced County Jail Saturday night, according to jail records.

Officers responded to the 1400 block of Conestoga Drive at around 9:50 p.m on April 18, 2021, for reports of shots fired.

When officers arrived, they located two victims at the scene suffering from gunshot wounds.

Authorities located 19-year-old Tatyanna Mariah Lopez, a native from Gilroy who died at the scene, and her boyfriend 20-year-old Angel Legrande who was transported to a trauma center with life-threatening injuries.

During the investigation, detectives identified a suspect as 19-year-old Jonathan Xavier Dorado from Los Banos.

Lopez was visiting friends and was more than eight months pregnant according to her family.

Dorado was located in Tijuana Mexico. Stay tuned for any further updates if they become available.
