Man stabbed in his back in downtown Merced last night

On January 24th, 2019, at around 9:40 p.m., Merced Police received a call of a stabbing that occurred in the area of the Merced Theatre located at the intersections of Martin Luther King Jr Way and Main Street.

Upon arrival, officers located a man with several stab wounds to his back. The man was only described to be approximately 35-years-old according to Sergeant Horns from the Merced Police department.

Upon further investigation, the victim stated to officers he was walking in the alleyway of the Merced Theatre when he got into an argument with two men, the argument escalated to a physical fight, the victim then felt a sharp pain in his back, he then realized he had been stabbed several times.

The victim went to the front of the Theatre to a nearby bar and asked for help, the victim was not able to describe to officers the type of weapon used or the suspect’s description. The man was medi-flighted to an out of area hospital his condition was unknown, no further information was immediately available
