Merced Police is currently investigating a shooting that left a man in his 40s dead.

Officers responded to the 1400 block of K Street at around 9:35 p.m. Saturday, for a report of a shooting, when an officer was arriving at the scene he observed a vehicle leaving the area at a high rate of speed.

The officer was able to catch up to the alleged vehicle involved in the shooting and a chase ensued, the vehicle failed to stop at traffic signals and Stop signs.

The chase ended in the area of East Sonoma Street and G street.

Officers said the suspects got out of the vehicle and leg bailed, officers were able to catch the suspect and possibly two other passengers who ran, the weapon was also located.

At the scene, Merced GW News spoke to a neighbor, he was able to confirm that the man who was shot and killed is one of the sons of the property manager at the apartment complex.
