Man caught on Video attempting to steal a cash register from Marios Taco Shop located at 51 West 16th street in Merced. It happened on February 21st, 2019, at around 10:40 p.m. A Man gets dropped off in the alley and approaches the business, once he’s at the door he runs in and grabs the cash register.

Unfortunately for the robber, the register gets stuck and he ends up dropping it while trying to pull it off, an employee approaches and starts hitting the man with a broom, the man then runs out empty handed.

The man ran to the waiting vehicle in the alley and they took off. No description of the vehicle or other suspects was provided. Unfortunately, the owner of Marios told us the register broke and the ATM tablet. A Merced Gateway News viewer messaged us a few days ago and told us that several businesses on Olive Avenue have been robbed, we have not been able to confirm that at this time.
