A man was killed early this morning on a head-on crash in Merced County the Los Banos California Highway Patrol said.
CHP Officers responded to the area of Northbound State Route 165 just south of Sixth Street at approximately 4:18 a.m. for a report of a collision.
Upon arrival, officers located two vehicles with major damage.
Upon further investigation, officers said 25-year-old Carlos Enrique Godoy out of Keyes California was traveling Southbound on SR-165 on a 2019 Honda Civic at an unknown rate of speed.
The second vehicle, a 1995 Honda Civic was traveling Northbound on SR-165 at approximately 65mph.
Officers are investigating to determine why Enrique allowed his vehicle to cross into the path of the other vehicle.
Both vehicles became disabled on the right-hand shoulder of Northbound SR-165.
Enrique suffered major injuries and was flown to Doctors Medical Hospital in Modesto.
The Driver of the 1995 Honda Civic was pronounced deceased at the scene and was not immediately identified.
Alcohol or drugs do not appear to be a factor in this collision, the collision is still under investigation.
