On March 16th, 2019, at approximately 12:38 a.m., a Merced police officer was on “R” Street and Bear Creek drive when he heard possible shots fired in the area.
The officer advised dispatch he was going to check the area in case they got any calls, the dispatcher then advised him that they were receiving calls of a shooting at the 7-Eleven store located at 712 Loughborough Drive.
When officers arrived, they found a white male adult in his 20’s with injuries consistent with gunshot wounds. The man was transported to an out of area hospital.
At this time his extent of injuries was not immediately available. No description of the vehicle or suspects were available at this time according to Sergeant Foster.
The Merced Police Department Investigations Unit is diligently investigating this case. The investigators are in the early stages of the investigation and it is too early to determine if the case is drug and/or gang related.
