According to Merced County Sheriff Deputy Daryl Allen, the man found last week deceased in Planada was identified as 47-year-old Jose Villarreal Nunez from Planada.

The body was found in a dirt road between a  canal and a cornfield by farmworkers in the area of Childs Avenue and Ivett Road in Planada on September 5th, 2019, at approximately 8:40 a.m.

According to Deputy Allen, the death of Jose is being investigated as a homicide.
