(Merced Sheriff Press Release)

Delhi, CA – On August 8, 2020, at approximately 6:30pm, Deputies with the Merced County Sheriff’s Office were called to the area of Stephens Street and Schendel Avenue in Delhi for a reported stabbing.

Deputy Joseph Royel arrived in the area and located one of the men identified as 47-year-old Daniel Waybright, who was suffering from several stab wounds to his neck.

Additional deputies arrived on scene and checked the area and found the other subject, identified as 57-year-old Deb Grissom, walking with a knife in his hand about a block away from Waybright’s location.

Deputies were able to get Grissom to drop the knife and placed him under arrest. Grissom was later booked into the Merced County Jail for attempted murder.

Waybright was transported to a hospital in Modesto and was reported to be in stable condition.
