The crowning jewel of the 3rd Annual Violette International Film Festival is a Hollywood-Style Merced Premiere of the film “Itsy Bitsy,” Saturday, November 9th at 7 pm.

“Itsy Bitsy,” written, directed, and produced by Merced native Micah Gallo, stars Academy Award©-nominee Bruce Davison (Willard, X-Men, Longtime Companion) and Denise Crosby (Star Trek: The Next Generation, Pet Sematary, 48 Hrs.).

A creepy-crawly creature feature based on the centuries-old poem “Itsy Bitsy” weaves a sinister web of family drama, personal demons, and a horrifying monster.

Filmed in Merced, “Itsy Bitsy” is a brand new internationally released movie that is gaining praise from critics and audiences and will have its largest single screening yet in the historic Merced Theatre.

Violette Films, a film company based in Merced California, has partnered with the Merced Theatre Foundation to make this event possible.

“Our goal is to bring a unique entertainment experience to the City of Merced as well as showcase some of the Central Valley’s most talented filmmakers alongside international short films from 11 countries,” explains festival organizer Chris Velazquez.

The Violette Film Festival allows the public to meet local and national filmmakers, the stars of many of the films, and learn about the craft of filmmaking from experts in their fields.

Information on showtimes, film blocks, celebrity guest appearances, and filmmakers will be made available the first week of October 2019.

“The Violette Film Festival is a family-run festival to give filmmakers of all skill levels and walks of life a chance to show what they are made of. This is the third year of our festival and with a beautiful venue at the Merced Theatre and the help of the wonderful Merced Foundation, this year’s festival is set to be the most amazing one yet, “said Chris Velazquez, the creator of the festival, which is named after his daughter Violette.

Violette Films is owned and operated by the Velazquez Family. Their goal is to bring quality storytelling to the Central Valley through their award-winning short films and work.

November 10, the second day of the festival, is a celebration of family with family-oriented short films and showcases Violette Film’s commitment to community and family.

Vendor tables for local filmmakers and merchants will be on display for those wanting to learn more about the filmmaking process and get to know our local merchants.

Micah’s career began with making films on his father’s camcorder from a young age and led to him being accepted into USC, the top film school in the country.

Since then curiosity and desire for quality drove him to train in as many aspects of the art and business of film as possible.

Micah’s fascination with visual composition and technology inspired him to co-found the award winning post-production facility, Lit Post.

While there Micah built the company from nothing and collaborated with other top artists to design new cutting-edge effects previously unavailable for independent films.

With experience on over 40 feature films Micah transitioned into content development by creating the groundbreaking short film Wick. Always seeking to push technology Wick is notable for being the first film shot on the revolutionary Dalsa 4K digital format leading the pack into the digital revolution.

Micah has earned several Best Director and Best Cinematography awards for his work as well as being honored with an Emerging Cinematography award for Achievement in Cinematography from the International Cinematographers Guild.
