On September 24th, 2019, just after 2:00 A.M., Officer Centeno from the Atwater Police Department observed a Honda Civic leaving Osborn Park with no headlights activated.
The officer attempted to pull the car over as it traveled westbound on East Bellevue Road, the driver turned into the Walgreens parking lot and continued through the lot failing to yield.
The driver then pulled out of the lot in the 2800 block of Shaffer Road and continued northbound.
Officer Centeno initiated a pursuit as the driver accelerated and refused to yield to his lights/siren.
The pursuit continued northbound on Shaffer Road reaching speeds in excess of 95 MPH with the driver running several stoplights and stop signs.
According to the Atwater Police, the driver then lost control of the Honda near Shaffer Road and Fisher Road in the county near Winton.
A PG&E power pole was struck with wires down, sparking a small grass fire that was eventually contained by Cal Fire.
The driver of the Honda was identified as a 16-year-old juvenile female who was transported to an out of area hospital for injuries, at this time it is unknown what type of injuries she sustained.
The vehicle turned out to be previously reported stolen. CHP investigated the accident portion and the Atwater Police Department agency will be filing charges for the reckless evading of a peace officer and possession of the stolen property.
