Merced police say they have arrested a gang member in possession of illegal fireworks and ammunition.

Merced Police gang unit officer Rocha developed information on the location of 30-year-old Vue Xiong who had an outstanding warrant.

Gang unit officers served a search warrant in the 1900 block of West Highway 140 at around 3:26 Saturday afternoon.

Xiong had an outstanding warrant in Merced County for his arrest.

During a search of the residence, officers located ammunition and 100 illegal fireworks (mortars).

Xiong was arrested for his outstanding warrant along with possession of ammunition by a convicted felon and possession of illegal fireworks.
