At approximately 2:30 p.m. today, the city of Merced police department received several 911 calls regarding a vehicle accident on state route highway 59 near Yosemite Avenue. Upon arrival, the Merced police department located a black Corvette and a silver Chevrolet pickup truck.

The city of Merced fire department responded to the scene along with Riggs Ambulance and provided medical assistance to the driver of the Corvette and the driver of the pickup truck. 

According to police the driver of the Corvette was medi-flighted to and out of area hospital, and he is expected to survive the driver is in his 30s according to the investigating officer on scene.

The occupant of the pickup truck is in his mid 30s  and was taken by ambulance to a local hospital for moderate injuries. For unknown reasons the corvette traveling south on 59 went into the Northbound lane and crashed with the pickup truck.

No further information is available at this time the collision remains under investigation according to Merced Police.
