CHP STOPS VEHICLE WITH $165,000

On January 31, at approximately 1400 hours, a CHP Officer stopped a white male adult (suspect) for speeding, on northbound Interstate 5, north of Russell Ave.

During the course of the contact indicators led the officer to believe the suspect was engaged in criminal activity. CHP K9 Officer Laika was called in to sniff the vehicle. Laika subsequently alerted to the odor of narcotics. A search of the vehicle revealed approximately $169,900 in US currency inside two plastic bags.

It is believed that the currency was derived from the sale of narcotics. The currency was seized and charges against the suspect are pending.
