Ceres, Calif. – A woman, and a juvenile were shot and killed while they slept, the Ceres police department said in a press release.

Police identified the female victim as 34-year-old Manpreet Kaur of Ceres, the Juvenile victim as 12-year-old Gurman Singh of Ceres, and the suspect was identified as 55-year-old Jang Singh also of Ceres.

Police say, Jang Singh was married to Manpreet Kaur for the past four years. Gurman Singh was her son from a previous relationship.

Manpreet Kaur and Gurman Singh moved from India to live with Jang Singh approximately four months ago.

On the night of June 15th, 2020, Manpreet Kaur and Gurman Singh were asleep in the living room of the apartment they lived in with Jang Singh. Jang Singh’s 80-year-old mother, who’s name police will not release, was staying the night, which is why Manpreet Kaur and Gurman Singh were sleeping in the living room.

Jang Singh, for unknown reasons, went to the living room and without provocation, shot both Manpreet Kaur and Gurman Singh as they slept.

Jang Singh then walked into his own bedroom and shot himself. His mother, woken by the gunshots, sought help from neighbors, who called 911.

The entire incident was captured on an interior surveillance video system that was installed in the apartment. Police said, the camera was not a hidden surveillance video system”. It appears Jang Singh had installed the video system in his apartment some time ago.
