In the early morning hour of April 17th, 2018 at around 4:30AM, A big rig lost control on southbound highway 99 in Merced between the intersections of 15th,14th streets and G street.

Upon emergency crews arriving they discovered a big rig at the G street highway 99 underpass that fell from the overpass. Caltrans also responded to the area to work on the bridge, there is guard rail and concrete that broke on the side of the over pass.

The trucking company sent out a clean up company to clean up the diesel spill on G street. According to Sargent Ricky Franklin from the CHP Merced office the truck driver fell asleep before he lost control and crashed. No injuries were reported on the driver. No further information was available.
