ATWATER HIGH SPEED CHASE ENDS WITH SIX ARRESTED

On March 2nd, 2018 at approximately 7:03 PM, Atwater Police officers were dispatched to the Super Wal-Mart parking lot located in the 800 block of Commerce Avenue to a report of several subjects attempting to break into vehicles.

Officers arrived in the area and spotted the individuals entering into a white pickup truck. Officer Dash attempted to initiate a traffic stop however the driver (later identified as 18-year-old Evan Allen) failed to yield to the patrol car’s emergency lights/siren.

A pursuit ensued which lasted several minutes and which led officers onto N/B SR 99. The Merced County Sheriff’s Office took over the pursuit at that point however the pursuing deputies were eventually led back to the city limits of Atwater. Atwater PD joined the pursuit again which lasted several more minutes.

At some point the pickup truck lost its left front tire and wheel as officers continued to give chase. The pickup truck eventually lost control and collided with a fence in the 2900 block of Secretariat Street. Six males were taken into custody including two juveniles.

The adults that were arrested were 18-year-old Evan Allen (driver), 18-year-old Jordan Macias, and 18-year-old brothers Carlos and Roberto Maldonado. All face criminal charges to include Attempted Burglary, Conspiracy, Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor and Felony Evading.
