Merced Police Detectives are investigating a shooting that sent a 42-year-old man to a Modesto Hospital.

Officers responded this morning at around 10:11 A.M., to the 400 block of Campus Parkway for reports of a solo vehicle accident.

When officers arrived, they found a victim suffering from a gunshot wound. At this time it appears the 42-year-old driver was going southbound on Campus Parkway when he was shot causing him to crash into a light pole.

The victim was taken by helicopter to a Modesto Hospital in serious condition.

Detectives are searching the area for cameras and said they are looking into two vehicles that could be related to the shooting, Seargent Solis said.

Police ask the community to please avoid the area, detectives will be out there for several hours.
