A man was struck by a vehicle in Merced early Tuedsay morning.

Merced police officers responded to the 1100 block of Martin Luther King Jr Way for a vehicle vs pedestrian at around 12:02 a.m.

Upon officers arrival, the pedestrian was found in the # 2 Southbound lane of Martin Luther King Jr Way. Riggs Ambulance and City Firefighter arrived and performed live saving measures on the individual, unfortunately the man died on scene.

Authorities say the man was crossing MLK Jr Way, Westbound between 12th street and 11th street when a Southbound vehicle struck the pedestrian in the #2 lane, causing the pedestrian to be pulled under the vehicle.

The driver pulled over and is cooperating with the investigation. Alcohol or drugs do not appear to be a factor in this accident.

The pedestrian had no identification and his identity is unknown at this time.
