19-year-old overturns vehicle in Merced, nearly landing on the railroad tracks

On August 30th, 2019, at approximately 7:20 pm, the Merced California Highway Patrol responded to a collision on Santa Fe Drive and Business Park Way.

Responding officers determined a Toyota Camry was traveling EastBound on Santa Fe Drive, for unknown reasons 19-year-old Diego Ayala from Livingston allowed his vehicle to leave the roadway.

According to CHP public information officer Zuniga, the vehicle overturned and came to rest near the Santa Fe Railroad tracks.

The railroad company was notified of the collision and all trains were stopped. The tracks were checked for damage and determined the vehicle did not hit them.

Ayala, the sole occupant of the vehicle was transported to a Modesto hospital due to complaint of pain.

No other vehicles or subjects were involved. Alcohol and/or drugs are not believed to be a factor in this collision.
