AN ATWATER WOMAN’S HAIR CATCHES FIRE, BURNING HER FACE

On February 22nd, 2018, Atwater Police Department officers responded to the 1100 block of Swaps Street to a report of a female who suffered burns to her face while she was smoking narcotics.

Officer Walker contacted Stephanie Szyndler who admitted to having smoked methamphetamine inside of her mother’s bathroom and sustained severe burns to the right side of her face and head after the butane lighter she was using caught her hair on fire.

Officer Walker located a small amount of what was suspected to be methamphetamine as well as drug paraphernalia at the scene. Szyndler was also found to be on active Probation out of Stanislaus County.

She was air lifted to an out of county hospital to be treated for her injuries. A criminal report will be forwarded to the district attorney’s office for possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia as well as a violation of her probation.
