On January 29, 2018 at approximately 4:57 p.m., Los Banos Police Dispatch received several 9-1-1 calls regarding a shooting in the 1000 block of East B Street, near Miano Elementary School. Officers arrived within minutes and found a 17-year-old male suffering from at least one gunshot wound to his lower body. After the shooting occurred, the victim ran onto the school campus for help. The victim was transported by ambulance to a Modesto area hospital for treatment.

The victim was walking down the street in front of the school when the shooting occurred. The school was out of session, but a group of students were participating in an after school program, Because of the close proximity to the shooting, the school was placed on lock down as a precaution. This shooting was not connected to the school.

Police are investigating the shooting and no other information is available at this time.
