A woman was killed Saturday night in Merced.

Merced Police Officers responded to the 100 block of East Main Street in the city of Merced at around 11:13 Saturday night for reports of shots fired in the area.

Responding officers were directed to a residence on East Main Street where they located two gunshot victims.

One of the victims was transported to a regional trauma center and the other victim, a 33-year-old female, passed away on scene.

The identification of the deceased is pending notification to the next of kin.

Detectives along with crime scene personnel responded to the scene and took over the investigation. It was determined that there was an exchange of gunfire during the incident.

Detectives are canvassing the area in an attempt to locate any video surveillance or witnesses to the incident.
