On September 9th, 2019, at approximately 9:45 p.m., the City of Merced fire department responded to the area of “G” and East Main streets for a report of a structure fire.

Responding units arrived and observed smoke in the area, firefighters noticed an exterior fire at the Bar-B-Q Pit building.

“Engine 51 was able to rapidly contain the fire, the fire extended into the walls and the damage was minimal”, said fire Captain Cory Hass.

A building official was requested by the fire department, they will determine if the building is occupiable or if repairs will have to be made before opening back for business.
