A woman was shot in Merced Wednesday night at an apartment complex.

Officers responded to the Sunnyside Apartments at 988 “D” Street for reports of shots fired.

When officers arrived, they located a female suffering from gunshot wounds. The female was flown to a Modesto hospital where she was pronounced deceased.

Investigators are currently working to locate witnesses, surveillance video, and establish a motive for the shooting.

The victim’s identity will be withheld pending notification of her family. The suspect(s) in this case have not yet been identified.
