When officers arrived on scene, they learned two suspects, later identified as 24-year-old Robert Castro and 43-year-old Manuel Barro were at a residence in the area to collect money they were owed.

The victim stated he was retrieving their money when the suspects brandished firearms at him firing two shots.

No victims were reported to be suffering from gunshot wounds. Prior to the officers arriving on scene, the suspects left in a white Volkswagen sedan. Officer Henke noticed the white sedan circling the area before the vehicle drove eastbound on West 13th Street.

During the traffic stop, a loaded Mac-10 .45 Caliber sub-machine gun, a .22 caliber revolver, and approximately 7.5 grams of crystal methamphetamine were located.

Robert Carlos Castro and Manuel Barro were identified through an in-field show-up as the suspects in the shooting. Both Castro and Barro were booked at the Merced County Jail for brandishing a firearm, terrorist threats, shooting at an inhabited dwelling, possession of narcotics with a loaded firearm, and having concealed firearms.
