On April 23rd 2018, At around 10:00PM the city of Merced fire department, Riggs ambulance and Merced Police received numerous calls regarding a structure fire with two kids in the home. The home is located on the 900 block of West 10th Street. Four engines responded, with about 16 firefighters, upon fire engines arriving on scene four minutes later firefighters discovered the fire was in the back side of the home.

Firefighters immediately made entry to the home in which they discovered they had two kid fatalities no gender or age was provided by investigators at that time. Fire investigators, PG&E and Merced police remained on scene as of 1:30AM Tuesday, the structure fire is still under investigation and further updates will be provided at a later time.
