14-YEAR-OLD ARRESTED FOR FALSE ACTIVE SHOOTER CALL AT GVHS

The Merced Police Department has arrested a 14-year-old freshman student at Golden Valley High School in connection with Friday’s false report of an active shooter on campus. Merced Police Department School resource Officer Rieg worked diligently to figure out who made the false report.

Through a deliberate investigation Officer Rieg was able to make the arrest. The 14-year-old was booked into Merced County Juvenile Hall for violation of section 626.8 California Penal Code, Disruptive Presence at Schools.

Merced Police are asking anyone with any information regarding this incident to contact Detective Sergeant Rey Alvarez at (209)388-7705, or the Merced Police Department Tipster Line at (209) 385-7826. The public can send information via anonymous text messages to police department by dialing “TIP411” (847411) and including the word “Comvip” as the “keyword” in the text message.
