Several shootings reported early this morning in Merced

The Merced Police Department received three calls of shots fired on August 1, 2019 between the hours of 1:14 AM and 2:10 AM.

The first call of shots fired originated in the area of Meadows Avenue and Loughborough Drive at 1:14 AM.

Responding officers located shell casing in the roadway. Officers also found a vehicle and an apartment had been struck by gunfire. There were no injuries reported.

Jason Cincotta 52-year-old

The second call of shots fired originated in the area of 21st Street and “G” Street at 1:21 AM. Again, officers located shell casing in the roadway and located one residence that had been struck by gunfire.

Witnesses in the area provided a vehicle description to the officers on scene. The vehicle was described as a white Chevy pickup, last seen going south on “G” Street. There were no injuries reported at this location.

Kenneth Herd 35-year-old

The third call of shots fired originated in the 1400 block of Conestoga Drive at 2:10 AM. Responding officers again located shell casing in the roadway. There were no vehicles or buildings located that had been struck by gunfire. There were no injuries reported at this location.

Officers began conducting an investigation, with the limited information they had and video of city cameras, officers were able to locate the responsible white Chevy pickup in the 3600 block of White Dove Avenue in Merced.

A search warrant was executed on a residence in the 3600 block of White Dove Avenue where two suspects were taken into custody.

There was evidence located at the home leading to the arrest of the two suspects.

There were also two juveniles, ages 14 and 3, located at the residence. The juveniles were placed in the custody of Child Protective Services.

Officers arrested Jason Cincotta 52-year-old Merced resident and Kenneth Herd 35-year-old also from Merced for the shootings.

Kenneth Herd was booked into the Merced County Jail on charges of Conspiracy negligent manner and carrying a concealable firearm, discharging a firearm in a vehicle.

Jason Cincotta was booked into Merced County Jail on charges of, discharging a firearm in a vehicle negligent manner, carrying a concealable firearm, carrying a loaded firearm to commit a felony and being a prohibited person in possession.

    The one that was in the 1400 block of Conestoga was in front of my house and my neighbors truck was hit with a bullet.
