The Merced County Sheriff’s Office continues to work with CAL Fire on investigating the cause of the residential fire that occurred in the area of Batten Road and Julip Avenue in the rural area of Dos Palos.

It has been confirmed that two adults and three children have died as a result of the fire.

According to CAL Fire Investigators, the fire appears to be an accident and has found no evidence of foul play.

The two adults have been identified as 40-year-old Ruben Andrade and 35-year-old Juana Yanez. Additionally, the children have been identified as 1-year-old Hector Andrade, 4-year-old Judith Andrade, and 11-year-old Christopher Andrade.

Merced County Mental Health and the American Red Cross is currently with the family and helping them with this tragic loss.
