Several people were displaced early this morning after a fire sparked at an apartment complex in Merced.

Firefighters responded to 13 West 18th Street at around 2:54 a.m., for reports of a structure fire.

Upon arrival, firefighters found flames coming from the attic area of an apartment unit.

A total of eight people were displaced from the single-story four-unit apartment complex.

No injuries were reported, Battalion Chief Franklin said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation
