Merced Police responded to the area of East Childs Avenue and Carol Avenue at approximately 3:00 p.m. today for a report of a shooting.

Upon arrival, police officers located a victim who was shot, according to witnesses in the area, three to four shots were heard.

Schools in the area are on lockdown. Avoid the area at this time.
