One fatality, several deputies and two Riggs personnel treated on Hazmat incident

On June 13th, 2019, at approximately 11:52 a.m., the Merced County Sheriff’s Office along with several medical personnel responded to the intersections of Monroe Avenue and China Camp Road in Los Banos in regards to a possible Hazmat incident.

Upon arrival, six deputies and two Riggs medical personnel became exposed to the chemical, all were treated and are expected to recover.

Deputy Allen said, there was one confirmed fatality reported, and one taken to a local hospital.

Cal-fire was on scene determining the hazmat incident.
