Merced police investigating shooting at apartment complex by flea market

The Merced Police Department investigating a shooting that occurred this morning.

Officers responded to 988 D street shorty after 11:00 Saturday morning after receiving a call of shots fired at the Sunnyside apartments.

When officers arrived, they were unable to locate any victims. Officers located several shell casings inside the apartment complex and a building that had been hit by bullets.

According to witnesses, the shooter was on foot and fired several shots at a group of people in the complex. The suspect then ran to a black SUV that was waiting on D Street and left Northbound on D Street.

Witnesses also described the suspect as a black male in his 20’s, wearing all gray clothing. The suspected victims of the shooting were uncooperative with the investigation.
