Merced Police is investigating a shooting after three people were shot in Merced.

Police responded to the 1100 block of East Santa Fe Avenue at around 1:25 a.m. for reports of shots fired in the area of an apartment complex.

When officers arrived, they located two gunshot wound victims inside an apartment and a third victim outside. Police say one of the victims was determined to be deceased at the scene.

The two remaining victims were taken to area hospitals with life-threatening injuries. Police say the motive for the shooting is unknown at this time. The identification of the victims is unknown and no suspects information was immediately available.
