On September 20th, 2019, at approximately 9:03 p.m., Merced Police Officers responded to the 700 Block of Loughborough Drive in response to a report of gunshots heard in the area.

When officers arrived in the area, they discovered a gunshot victim in a multi-unit apartment complex, located at 777 Loughborough Drive.

Before officers arrived at the scene, the suspect(s) had quickly departed the area on foot.

Police canvased the area, After canvassing the area, police were able to locate multiple witnesses and a person who matched the description of the suspect.

The suspect was identified as 20-year-old Kobe Bryant Charles of Merced. Ultimately, Charles was booked into Merced County Jail for attempted murder.
