MERCED MAN ARRESTED ON WEAPON, AMMUNITION CHARGES AND ANIMAL CRUELTY

Merced. CA- On Saturday, April 29 2017, the Merced Police Department’s Gang Violence Suppression Unit (GVSU) officers developed information that convicted felon Wallace Smith was in possession of firearms at his residence. GVSU officers authored a search warrant and served the search warrant at Smith’s residence located in the 900 block of S. Mather Road in Merced.

During the search, officers located two shotguns, two rifles and ammunition inside his home. Smith is a convicted felon and cannot be in possession of any firearms. Smith admitted that the firearms belonged to him. Smith was arrested and booked at the Merced County Jail for felon in possession of firearms, ammunition and animal cruelty.

Merced Police are asking anyone with any information regarding this crime to contact Gang Violence Suppression Unit (GVSU) Sgt.
