On April 20th, 2020, at approximately 2:06 p.m., firefighters from the City Of Merced Fire Department responded to A&S Metal recycling Center located at 2901 State Route Highway 59 for a report of a fire.

Responding units arrived at the scene and found a large scrap metal pile that was well involved.

Employees at the scene stated the pile was slated for recycling and they believe that one of the metal tanks in the pile had a little gasoline left int the tank and sparked the fire.

The fire was deemed accidental and was suppressed by three fire personnel.
