The Merced County Health Department is reporting more outbreaks.

Merced County is using the California Department of Public Health’s definition of an outbreak, which includes:

  • 3 or more individuals with no linkage outside of the workplace, working in the same facility and shift; or
  • 1 resident of a skilled nursing facility.

When a facility is determined to be in an outbreak protocol, the Merced County Department of Public Health works closely with the facility to mitigate the spread of disease. Affected close contacts are contacted by the facility/employer.

If you think you may have been exposed, monitor yourself closely for the symptoms of COVID-19.

As of 3:30 p.m. Thursday, July 16, 2020, there are 2,313 confirmed cases (+53 from Wednesday) of COVID-19 (novel coronavirus) in Merced County. Approximately 1,132 of those cases are active, and 15 have died.

Something needs to be done about Foster Farms, it was around this time last week the number was at 13 active, a week later it is now a reported 57!! My mom works there, and their HR has NOT returned voice messages we’ve left since last Friday. No response to faxes we’ve sent. While they seem to be remotely working due to the fear of getting hit with COVID, people like my mom stands to be terminated for reason of no show but refuses to allow notation for not want to come to work due to fear of COVID–all the receeptionist aske was reason for not coming to work, is it personal or sick? It is neither, it is COVID and the numbers are climbing–I am so pissed and I live out of state. I will be trying to contact their head quarters tomorrow. this is so shitty.
