Merced College lifts lockdown after reports of alleged shooting, all classes canceled for the day

Per Merced College Associate Vice President

Merced College Colleagues,

Per the recommendation of Merced City Police and Merced College Police, the temporary lockdown of the facilities on the Merced College Main Campus is lifted, effective immediately.

After careful assessment, authorities have determined there is no immediate threat and/or concern for the safety of those present onsite. Further, no injuries have been reported as a result of this alleged incident. All employees, students, and visitors currently on the main campus are directed to now leave campus in an orderly fashion.

As we continue to work with authorities to obtain the facts of the alleged shots fired, we will be closing the Merced College Main Campus, 3600 M Street, for the remainder of the day.

All classes, services, buildings, and activities are cancelled until tomorrow, April 12, 2022. The Merced College Main Campus will resume operations as scheduled tomorrow unless otherwise notified.

As always, your health and safety are our top priority. Thank you for your cooperation and patience!
