Man who dragged Atwater Police Officer arrested in Merced

The Atwater Police Department received a tip from a social media user, thanks to that tip officers arrested the suspect.

Merced and Atwater Police responded to the 1900 block of Yosemite Parkway in Merced where the alleged vehicle involved, a silver Toyota Camry with a bicycle rack, was found in the parking lot in front of a grocery store at that location.

After an investigation was completed, 40-year-old Brandon Lussier a resident of Atwater was taken into custody without incident on the following charges:

1) Assault with a Deadly Weapon on a peace officer
2 ) 2 counts of possession of a controlled substance

Lussier was booked into Merced County Jail.

Chief Salvador would like to thank the person that provided the tip after reading about the case on Facebook. That timely information allowed authorities to take a dangerous person off the streets.
