The Atwater Police Department is investigating a homicide that occurred early Saturday morning.

At around 1:40 a.m., Officers responded to the 1000 block of Juniper for reports of a shooting.

When officers arrived, they located a Hispanic male victim with multiple gunshot wounds, officers and EMS attempted life-saving attempts, unfortunately, he was declared dead at the scene.

The victim’s identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. Officers are looking for two suspects who left the scene in an unknown type of sedan. The motive for the shooting is under investigation.

Officers are in the early stages of the investigation and are asking the public for assistance in providing surveillance video in the area at the time of the shooting.
