The Chowchilla police department is investigating a shooting that left a man dead Sunday evening.

Officers were dispatched to Ash Slough for a report of a shooting at around 6:30 p.m., Upon arrival, officers were met by a group of several adults who had a victim of a single gunshot wound to the upper body.

Officers attempted life-saving procedures until paramedics arrived on scene, unfortunately, the victim died at the scene.

Numerous people were contacted and information regarding the shooting was taken by officers on scene. Police did not release any possible suspect information, this is an ongoing investigation and anyone with information to the homicide is asked to contact Detective Boivie at (559)665-8600.
