Man caught on cell video shooting gun at Yosemite lake in Merced

A Merced Gateway News viewer who wished to remain anonymous sent us the following video, the video shows a man allegedly shooting a gun at Yosemite Lake located at 5714 Lake Road in Merced on July 13th, 2019 at approximately 6:12 p.m.

The witness said, there was a fight and one of them went to grab a gun from a motorcycle and started shooting towards what appeared to be an empty field near the UC Merced to scare them away.

They immediately left the area along with friends in what appears to be a grey-colored BMW.

The witness also stated, Officers from the Sheriff’s department arrived about 10 minutes after the shooting, the guy who fired the gun was gone but they spoke to several witnesses including the guy that was involved in that fight but had nothing to do with the shooting.

No injuries were reported. The Merced Sheriffs department has not released any media information regarding this incident.

    They need to hire round the clock security for out all around that place. When I was growing up here in Merced many families headed out there for small and large family barbeques. We swam, played in the sand and snacked and had a ball. For a real treat we would go to the concession stand and get cotton candy or pink popcorn.
